Hey all.  I looked into the motorglider option not long ago and found the
following definition for a sailplane on the faa

  a.. maximum seating capacity of 2
  b.. if unpowered, maximum weight of 1654 lbs (750 Kg)
  c.. if powered, maximum weight of 1874 lbs (850 Kg)
  d.. if powered, single spark or compression ignition engine
  e.. if powered, maximum weight to wing span squared of 0.62 lb/ft2 (3.0
kg/m2)
