Netters,
Today the KR and I crossed the "Father of waters" and into the land they call Missouri ! Our first big adventure was a 114 sm trip to an airshow. I made my log entry at 6:00AM this morning to make the whole thing legal. I knew I'd crossed the river when the people I met introduced themselfs with names like Dow and Bow! Just kidding Missouri netters. They were all very nice people and the KR got some good reviews. Dow was a 14,000+ hour AgCat cropduster and Bow was an Army paratrooper that brought the flag in to open the airshow. Two fine gentlemen. I met a few gentlemen that I tried to turn on to the net. One was a KR1 builder and the other two were "wana-be partner" builders. We'll see if they show up. There was a bit of wind out today. I was making 130 smph GS going and 175 smph GS on the return. It was 114 miles each way and I recorded 2.3 hours on the meter and that included a fuel stop so three T.O.'s and landings and two climbs to 6500 feet, taxi, warm-up, etc. That was "clock time", not "tach time". My fuel burn was 5.7 gph and I cruise at full throttle with 2500 on the tach. The crosswinds made for a couple of exciting landings but the bird is back in the hangar without any damage from her first big outing. If the weather holds I have something planned for the next 6 weekends. I should have well over 100 hours on it by Gathering time. Keep on building! Once you've tasted the thrill of flight there's no turning back !!!!!!!!! Larry Flesner
