Hi Mark and Netters,
None what so ever, no need for outside mounting. I had 3 antennae 
inside, transponder,
com and ham all inside. Com and ham were 1/4 wave dipoles and the txpdr 
sat in the
vertical on a 1/4" plywood  epoxied to a cross member half way down to the
rudder. Still flying today the same!
