Ken, A brute force line filter at the power inlet of the radio stack is great insurance. Then it's not important to have a shielded power wire.
The ignition noise can be getting into the radio on the power wire or on the antenna. One quick check is to have the engine running and disconnect the coaxial cable at the radio. If the noise goes away, it's coming in on the antenna. Then the only solution is to stop the noise at the source. Jim Vance [email protected]
