Well, I did not make much progress yesterday, as the Local police requested 
that everyone either close their hanger doors, or leave the airport, in 
anticipation for the arrival of the VP for some local politics.  It was too hot 
to close the door, so I went home early.  I guess The VP just doesn't care 
about the KR gathering that I'm trying to fly to.  Today was a different story. 
 I adjusted my Revflow a few turns out and started the engine.  It responded by 
running up nicely to 5000 RPM.  After a one minute run, I stopped and installed 
the wind maker.  With the prop installed, I was only able to open the throttle 
to one half before the engine starved for gas.  I tried with the waste gate 
wired both open and shut.  I have taken the engine to 3100 RPM and 35" Hg on 
the manifold pressure.  My altimeter, the MP gauge and the tower agreed that 
the pressure outside was 30.01.  With the waste gate open I was showing about 
25 on the MP gauge.  I don't know the relationship between " Hg and PSI that 
reads on a Boost gauge.  If anyone does please sound off.  It appears that the 
effect of the boost translated into about 200 RPM at the prop.  The remainder 
of all runs was made with the waste gate open.  After several needle 
adjustments and shaves, I was able to get the engine to 3000 RPM and 30" Hg.  
At the point of high RPM the following is occurring:  The number 4 cylinder 
(Passenger Front) is leading the CHT by nearly 100 Degrees.  After 2500 RPM it 
quickly raised to over 400 Degrees, while other cylinders are at 300 ( the 
cowling was removed and plane was direct into a good breeze).  At 2K the temps 
remained fairly even;  The throttle could never be opened completely (verified 
by marking the throttle position with a marks a lot and after shut down setting 
the throttle in that position and looking at the slide in the venturi)  The 
throttle could be nursed to it highest setting but if opened further, the 
engine would die.  My friends and I concluded that if the engine is given more 
air and can't draw the required fuel, it would starve and shut down.  (Comments

All in all it was a good day.  It was somewhat frustrating, but I am coming to 
the point that I feel that the revflow might be the real issue.  I did not have 
much fuel and the head pressure was probably low.  Perhaps I could add a pump 
to be used for take off only. (comments Please).

I would also like to hear from all operators that have a homebuilt plane with a 
Volkswagen with a turbo.  I want to know how you use and or control the boost 
in your plane.
