Hello all,

I wanted to weigh in on the next Gathering. I've organized, I think, 5
of the Gatherings and helped with I can't remember how many. The key to
a good Gathering is the commitment of the person responsible. I mean one
person who will be responsible for everything. They will get help and
they will also get let down. This person must pick up the slack and
ensure the whole thing is done. I've found that the first year is tough
and the second is not bad at all. We have a tradition of holding it in
the same place for two years in a row because of the "learning curve."
LARRY gets my nomination for next year but with that said, I don't know
of anyone who wants to do it three years in a row.

The reason it gets voted on at the Gathering, in my opinion, is that the
people who attend are the people who attend. To place the Gathering in
an area hoping others will show up is a lost cause. We may get some but
if they really wanted to be there, they would have come to the Gathering
for the last X or XX years the way most of us have. I've found that a
person at the ending stage of building or just flying the KR is one of
the best host's because they have the most enthusiasm for making it
happen. I hope I don't offend anyone.

Well, I've got to go back to work so I'll see you late Thursday in the
car and then Friday morning in the old KR.
