I spoke to John Shafer about the Ellison on top of his engine also. My
assumption was that if the fuel pump stopped it would shut the engine right
now. I was very surprised when he told me that you could still run the
engine up to about 75% power without the fuel pump before you noticed any
problem.

I put a Zenith on my last KR because I assumed the Ellison had to have the
pump running. I wish I knew this before I made that decision.

* Steve Bennett told me even with the Ellison on TOP of his engine, it runs
fine up to 2100 - 2200 RPM just on "gravity" feed. He said the air flow
through the Ellison causes sufficient draw for the fuel. The engine
stumbles (too lean) if the engine turns faster without the normally
available fuel pump pressure.
