Make them to just clear the back side of the rear spar. The longer the better but the rear spar is the limiting factor if you follow the plans. Most are made of alum angle but if you haven't built them yet go with steel. The alum ones are known to crack and fall off. Ask Jim Faughn about that. Larry Flesner
