Netters,
I have been monitoring the post's on the KRNet concerning my attempt to
get a fleet deal on the Garmin MAPGps 296 and in regard to that I have this
to say.
No one involved in this did anything wrong except Jim Irwin, President
of AS&S by making it public. When I first got interested in the Garmin 296
I thought the price was rather high so I called around to the various
suppliers and finally found one who I thought would be willing to sell more
than one unit at a reduced price. The individual I talked to was not the
owner of the company, he was just an employee who was unaware of the fact
that there existed a contract between his boss and Garmin to not discount
the price of the unit. I was also unaware of this fact. I never did talk to
the owner of the company about anything and if I had I am sure he would have
advised me that he could not sell to me or anyone else on a fleet deal
because of his contract with Garmin. My intention was to get a unit for
myself and any member of the KRNet and save us all some money. There was
nothing dishonest done by anyone involved. It's a shame that some members
of the KRNet jump to conclusions and call people when they don't have all
the facts.
