Clearly it's lifting, but how do you imply that it's pushing up from the bottom or LIFTING from the top? Did you ever feel negative G's at the top of some aerobatic maneuvers, clearly not being "repelled" by the earth.

This clearly illustrates the lifting force in positive Gs is applied to the bottom. The fuselage is attempting by gravity to stay on the earth and the wing is lifting it up, hence positive Gs. Negative Gs is where the fuselage is repelled from the earth and/or the wing makes negative lift (such as inverted flight).
