This is the one drawback of the repairman being the builder... it can become too casual an inspection since it's your own plane and you built it, know it inside and out, and "it flew just fine yesterday". Plus the fact that it's hard to get to some of those important fittings to inspect them, and tiresome to check tension on nuts and bolts (again), and to get up under the instrument panel to check out the wiring and instrument tubing. But it has to be done. Not to pick on Larry, but sometimes having that new pair of eyes go over the important stuff is useful. I griped about having to pay an A&P to do the inspection on my Piet, but ended up replacing one of the tail brace wires as a result. Save my bacon? The tail has two brace wires on each side, so a failure might not have been catastrophic. You be the judge...
