The first one I had was installed out the bottom as per plans, I

I built / installed the pitot/static setup per plans and mounted it
just outboard of the center section and it works to within 1 to
3 mph at cruise based on a number of checks with the GPS. 
It seem to be accurate at the low end also as the KR lifts off
just above 50mph indicated.

I have a bit of extra length on the hoses and when installing the 
outer wing panel I run the hoses into the outer wing and out the
mounting hole.  With wing attached I stuff the hose as far as 
they will go into the 1/4" pitot/static tubes, stick the extra hose
back into the wing and attach the pitot/static tubes.
