Absolutely I wouldn't use a built up crank. The "Best Machine Shop" in town
thinks I am being stupid for not using a 20/20 cut crank. He just does not
know. Since my post of the bad crank I found 3 cars in east Georgia in a junk
yard. When I called I was told I probably wouldn't want them because the were
not the engines with the dual carbs on each side. WOW, what he don't know will
same me money. I told him I would come look at anyway and might be able to take
them off his hands. The engines are still in the cars and I have to remove
them myself. Never took a vair engine out but have to so on dozens of
Volkswagens. Isn't there a hidden bolt in the bell housing I will need to find.
(Don't have the service manual yet)
