Netters

Finally! I got an afternoon where I was not sleeping, and did not have to work!

Went out and installed the new/used prop, a 52 x 36 so it is stamped. After a
month of sitting I fully expected to have to charge the battery before it would
start, but nope, it fired right up first time! Could not see the little prop
swing in the afternoon light but man did it rev up! 2900-3000 rpms static.
Charging system jumped into the 13 volt range and the engine for the first
time actually grumbled like it was making serious HP, not bogging down. I taxi
tested alittle in the fading light, and although the old prop I think made more
thrust initially when throttled up, the total thrust easily is more, having a
quicker acceleration, and registering airspeed sooner. I will try to squeeze
in a test flight in the pattern tomorrow and will report results. Looks like
we may have a lower compression/lower hp version of the 1835, according to Ed
Sterba. Also the new prop is 2 inches shorter than the old one, and 12 degrees
less pitch, and probably at least 4 pounds lighter.

Dan, get rid of the spreadsheet. By the time you figure out the problem, you
could have re-weighed the plane and manually made the calculations, and be
enjoying "soda" time....
