Thanks for the tip I'll try to find a way to get proper lubrication without
flooding.

Hi Bill,

Your method scares me.

"Pump the throttle TWO times leaving it in almost full throttle"

Starting at full throttle will shorten the life of you engine. When starting
there is minimal oil on the bearing surfaces and no oil
pressure. Starting at full throttle will give high RPM and high load on a cold,
unlubricated engine.

If my plane has been sitting for some time I crank it over with ignition off
till I get oil pressure before I operate the choke and
try to start it.

Few years ago some one wrote a sure fire procedure in starting the VW. It
consists of this. Mixture full rich. All switches ON.
Pump the throttle TWO times leaving it in almost full throttle ...just a small
crack . Hit the starter button or key and VOOOOOOOM
every time . I have been very sick lately and did not run the engine in over
two years. I went out to the airport yesterday and on
the first shot VOOOOM I sure have a lot to thank the guy that shared that
little bit of knowledge. pass it on..Bill Starrs
