Well, I guess all of you are wondering what I mean by time ran out.
Well, I have been working on a KR2 that was badly damaged in Hurricane Ivan.
I have been working on it since October. The damaged consisted of a broken
vertical stab. crushed turtle shell, busted Canopy, RHU wing tip was cracked,
and
several scratches hear and there. The Hanger it was in came down on it and
crushed it. The aircraft Fuselage and wings spars were not damaged But she
still took a bad hit. The owner could not repair her so he sold it to me to
rebuild her since I am an A&P. Well, as you all very well know building takes
time.
but in spit of some small set backs the vertical stab is finished, Rudder is
repaired, Turtle shell rebuilt, and Canopy is on order from Todd's Canopies. I
so much wanted to take it back to the air field and show Larry that his plane
will fly again. But my friends time ran out. Larry passed away April 1st. Damn
I miss him! For the passed two weeks I just cant seem to get anything done
on the plane. All I seem to do now is look at it and think of what a great
friend he was. Its hard to work with tears in your eyes.
The only thing that seems to give me some comfort is knowing that
Larry got to make two of his dreams come true. One of them was to live on an
air
field and build his own plane. It took Larry 15 years to build the KR2.
So the next time you have to take a break from building or flying your KR
remember Larry R. Pagle and all the other aviators that have gone before us.
Dreams do come true, and N 61305 will fly again, and Larry now fly's with
Eagles.
