The temp reading you get depends entirely on where you take the reading. I 
would be willing to bet his was pre-cooler which will yield high temp readings 
around 220°. Someone most likely got a perfectly good engine from him. Did he 
ever say what temps he got?

Hi Netters.
A friend in our local RAA club installed a corvair in his homebuilt. He had 
cooling problems. Any time he went faster than 80 mph his engine got hot. He 
tried many things ( He is a professional engineer), but finally gave up and 
sold it.  Is cooling normally a problem? If not, what is the secret?
