I'm no dummy! But I HAVE flown a passenger! My third flight as a KR PIC
was in Bill Clapp's plane, which is aerodynamically almost identical to
mine. And since then, I've put several hours on mine with a passenger about
Bill's size. I really didn't notice much difference, except it took the
tail a little longer to come up, and the climb rate was less, but not less
enough to really notice. But then my CG is way forward of the range, and it
should be noted that my plane is a far cry from a typical KR2. My CG moves
forward as I fly due to the fuel burn, so when I land it's further forward
than when I took off. Flying with a passenger in MY plane is simply a
non-event!

Now that I'm a somewhat experienced KR pilot, I'm going to move the
horizontal stab to move the CG closer to the mid point and see how that
does. Speed should increase due to the decrease in trim drag. I'll let
y'all know how it affects stability. I love it when a plan comes together!

A machinist in our company shop turned my 10mm prop hub bolts down to the
non-existent GM 11/32-24 thread and I installed them last night. They fit
perfectly, an excellent Class 3 fit! This is only temporary to get me to
the Gathering and back. After that I'll make a new cowling and plenums, and
go to a prop hub that is 1.25" shorter like most Corvair guys are using, to
eliminate the last of the "risk factors" on my engine. I plan to run it in
the next day or so, haul it to the airport Friday or Saturday, and be flying
it again before the weekend is over...
