The only way a piece could possibly get in is if the spring were to
crystallize due to heat and start breaking small pieces off. This could be
sucked in when you open the carb heat. And if your carb heat enters the air
box behind the filter then it could conceivably make it's way into the
engine. If your carb heat enters the air box pre filter, there is no
problem. Personally, I would not worry about it.
