If you want simple, use the Grove single piece gear. Expensive, but reliable simple, and easy on maintenance. Much easier to install and does not require as much surgery to the KR. I have installed both, and there is no comparison for simple.
I think the belly board is the only way to go. Simple and the last thing you need when landing is more lift generated by flaps.
