You're right about all the "new and improved" ideas that come up on the KR net but this hinge thing is not one of them. With the exception of a "fiberglass hinge", it's all been done before. It's just a matter of whether or not you want to adapt it to your KR. Personally, I see no advantage to any design discussed over the original piano hinge. I was struck dumb the first time I saw the aluminum hinge on a Zenair 601 and couldn't believe what I was looking at. I guess it works just fine but to me,adapting that to a wood, foam, and glass wing is like running on a treadmill, you're not really getting any place. As for testing the glass hinge, you could have your KR built and have 500 hours of air time while you build a test rig to test the hinge for failure. Just no payback.
