Mark: What kind of set up are you using to measure the mixture? The reason I ask is that if the engine misfires, it will actually produce a rich condition in the exhaust pipes due to unburned fuel entering them.
As I read your description, I get an image of a mixture meter reading backwards. If you richen it until in stumbles, it then reads lean....this is backward of what I understand. Is this mixture meter an exhaust temp gauge, or an O2 gauge? Why did you choose one over the other? Just curious.
