Spoke with Chuck Stone, owner of this KR2. He purchased it from another
owner, not the builder (Vernon Reese). He has flown it about 50 hours. As I
suspected, he had a fire which burned the cowling. It developed from spilled
fuel in the carburetor area on takeoff. [Chuck said the problem was his
mistake of installing an electric fuel pump instead of having only gravity
feed from the header tank.] Five minute delay before the fire department
arrived on the scene. He said... all the wiring, hoses and accessories under
the cowl were not damaged, but he has NOT run the engine since the fire.
Prop has some visible burned spots. He is not a A&P nor the original
builder, but claims he personally did the annual inspection in March of 2006
(pre or post fire?)
I posed the question of the fire on the Ebay site and he replied with only
his phone #. He apparently did not want the fire issue to be seen or known
to potential buyers.
This is not up for bid. He is selling it for the Buy It Now price of
$11,000.00.
BUYER BEWARE.
See this KR before purchasing.
Or call him at 850.874.0200 Panama City, FL
