Heck Mark, your 15 minutes of fame has been going on since your first flight
if not longer. And it is well deserved.

Subject: KR> Sport Aviation article

NetHeads,

Well it's been a week of highs and lows. I've been working every morning
trying to get my plane ready to fly to OSH, just doing little stuff to make
it a little less embarassing when I park it right next to the archway (if
the auto engine planes are parked in the usual place). So Monday afternoon
I got to work and there were two messages...one from Greg Laslo and another
from David (Sport Aviation editor). David wants to arrange an air to air
photo shoot, and Greg wants to arrange an interview about my plane!

Now you guys have seen my plane....it's hideous...so what can I say? I told
them I was pretty sure they wouldn't put a picture of a plane that was still
in primer in SA, and they agreed. The best I could come up with was for
them to do an article on the "next generation KR", especially since there
will be several of us flying in to OSH this year. You know what I
mean...new airfoil, Corvair or Jabiru or O-200, widened KR2S, etc., maybe a
picture of several of us parked at OSH and some flying photos of the nice
ones. They might have gone for that, but I'm not sure. I told them Bill
Clapp's plane was probably the one to photograph if they just had to pick
one, so I gave them his number and I think he's probably going to get the
call.

I see my 15 minutes of fame flittin' away into the sunset. If only they'd
waited ten more years for me to finish it and get a coat of paint on it!
But you guys flying KRs into OSH this year need to spend a little time
wiping the oil off the bottom. Meantime, I'm trying to make my "new"
fiberglass spinner look decent and getting ready for a coat of primer on the
cowling in the morning, and looking forward to heading that way...
