Matthew, The engine was given to me by a friend who took it off of a KR-1 he had purchased. He was not a pilot so he gave me the engine, mount, and prop. The heads had been re-taped to accept 14mm plugs. This created a smaller amount of metal between the plug hole and the valve seat. That is where I accidentally discovered the crack. I replaced them with Great Plains Superior heads, about 1.25# heavier than than the originals. I found that I can run a much leaner mixture with these heads because the exhaust valves are larger than original and the exhaust gas temperatures are lower. Cylinder head temps are also cooler.
