I met with Chris Collins, the airport manager, and Donnie Wilkie, the caterer today. Chris has a lot of activities going right now but things are shaping up for the Gathering. I will start hauling my two truck loads of necessary items to Mt.Vernon next week. You don't have to worry about getting shot over prime rib this year as there won't be any. Donnie Wilkey, the caterer, will be mixing it up a bit this year. Along with the first rate chicken he serves he hopes to have some fish, pork chops, and ribs. No one will go away hungry. There will be meals at the airport Friday noon and evening, Saturday noon and the Saturday evening banquet. He is also planning to serve coffee and homemade cinnamon rolls and/or donuts for breakfast from 7:00 to 9:00am on Friday and Saturday. Noon meals from 11:30am to 1:00Pm. Friday evening from 5:00 to 6:30pm and the banquet at 7:00pm. Meals will be approx $6.00 or $6.50 (I'll know next week) with breakfast somewhat less. The banquet is $15.00 per person, tickets purchased in advance at the Gathering. A good portion of the banquet ticket price goes for fund raising to cover other expenses. Bob Lee, can you put the meal times on the Gathering schedule site, please? There will be two showers available in the maintenance hangar for the campers as well as a port-o-potty at the camp site. I need two volunteers to help Ed Janssen judge KR's on Saturday. Those interested should e-mail me off net at [email protected] If I've already asked someone to help Ed and they said yes, I apologize. You can shoot ME for that. My mind isn't what it used to be. I did ask you already didn't I, Ed? :-) IT'S GETTING CLOSE.................. Larry Flesner
