I have an original brochure that Ken Rand sent me in 1976, it still has a 13 cent stamp attached. I have scanned it and will be happy to send it to anyone interested in seeing it or maybe one of the Marks may want to put it on their websites. There are 8 pages including front and back mostly photos that you may have seen and explantions other than what I am placing here.
Larry H. [email protected] General Description (from brochure) The KR-2 is a two place side by side low wing monoplane with removable wings, retractable main gear and a steerable tailwheel. Length is 14'6" and the wing is 20'8". Effective wing area is 78 square feet. The airfoil used is the RAF-48. This airfoil has a gentle stall characteristic and provides a comfortable spread between cruise and landing speeds. The airplane is designed to use Volkswagen engines from 1600 cc to 2200 cc. KR-2's with the stock 1600 cc engine have reported cruise speeds of 155 mph at 3,200 rpm. KR-2's with the Revmaster 2100 cc engine have reported cruise speeds of 190 mph at 3,100 rpm. The prototype was built with a 1834 cc engine and cruise speed came out at 170 mph at 3,200 rpm. Climb rate was 1,200 ft. per minute at 650 lbs gross and 800 ft per minute at 800 lbs gross. Normal take-off run was 350 feet. Design stress loading is 7-G's at 800 lbs. gross and redline is 200 mph indicated. A Ray Jay Turbo Charger has been installed which raised the cruise speed to 230 mph at 18,000 feet.
