Noel,
This is called the banana syndrome and YES, it is normal for them to bow
up when making the tapered sides. Do not attempt to make them flat. If
you do, you will break them. The only way to keep the longerons flat on
the table is to make the sides vertical.

Greetings! KR gurus,
  I am trying to put the fuse sides together with a taper bottom.  It is
upside down on the table, is it normal that the middle section of the
longerons are lifting up from the table top for about 1" or so, this
means there will be a dip on the middle section of both longerons when
the fuse is turn rightside up?  Do I have to force them to be perfectly
flat on the table?  I'm afraid I might break them if I do that.
