You are going to have multiple problems with that arrangement. First, the
Grove gear mounted to the back side of the spar will not be far enough aft.
Dan's gear rakes out further from the bracket than Grove's does so it puts
the wheels further aft. The Grove comes about straight down. You could
conceivably angle the mounting brackets or lengthen them, but that would put
a lot of stress on the spar, probably interfere with the seat, and/or make
you have a very heafty bracket for the extra leverage on the legs. The
other problem you will have is that the Grove is way too long unless you put
on a huge nose wheel or modify the Diehl gear.

You would likely be much better off selling your Grove or trading it for a
Diehl. The Grove costs more than the Diehl mains and nose wheel together so
you should come out way ahead in money, time, and agrevation just going with
a whold Diehl package and letting someone use the Grove for a tailwheel
plane.

Subject: Re: KR> How to install Grove Gear

Ok I have a different problem. . I am trying to go from taildrager to tri,
I think I have the grove gear. now I talked to Dan Deihl today and he was
saying that If I turned the gear around and placed them on the back side of
the front spar the center of the main gear must be less than 4.5 inches
behind the rear of the spar, also he said that the belly of the kr2 should
be about 16.5 inches at the spar. He said that his nose gear would be to
short for anything higher, of course my measurements are 5.5 to 6 inches
behind the spar and 18.5 inches from the floor . did anyone have these
problems? I need to talk to Dan and see if I mount the mains on the front of
the spar but turn them around if they will be to far forward . has anyone
shortend their gear and do I need to?
