You could also buy an inexpensive multimeter from RadioShack/ACE/heck, even
Wall Mart...  You would have an opportunity to check a lot of other things
than just continuity for about $20. They even come with (gasp!) instruction
manuals.

Using another long wire, disconnect the wires on both ends and do a
continuity check.  Mark the wires and draw up your schematic as you go.
You can even check to see if you have commonality with other circuits.
