Netters, I am very sorry to tell you that I just made the painful decision to part from my beloved KR2, Kilimanjaro Cloud, aka ZS-WEC.
After three years of work in very difficult conditions, I have nearly completed the rebuild, and I was only a few hours work away from making her airworthy again. But as you know, I am now moving to Australia; I am currently in France, organising the move, which is due in a few days. I was very determined to bring my KR2 along. Australia really seemed the place where I could expect to resume the fantastic flying I enjoyed with her in South Africa, and that I missed so much during these past three years in Tunisia and France. Alas, the red tape barriers and the costs have skyrocketed to a point where the whole think would not only become a painful and expensive process, but also have a very uncertain outcome. So, I reached the point where I decided to give up. Rather than trying to send my KR2 to Australia, I will now salvage it. Hopefully, the money I will save that way will help me start another project, somewhere, sometimes. Which probably is a much more reasonable option, although, as you can imagine, a very painful one. That KR had been love at first sight, and for the better or worse, somehow managed to fill a good part of my life for the past five years. So, I guess in 2007, I'll just be an ex builder, eh?
