Perfect landings!!! Now there's a laugh. My personal landing technique is to
beat the plane against the ground until it gives up and quits flying. :o)

Landing a tailwheel aircraft is just another skill to add to your repertoire as
a pilot and will improve one's overall pilot skills. It teaches pilots how to
use those little things on the floor we use as foot rests. If you choose not
to learn that skill and build your plane with a nose wheel, that's OK. In case
nobody noticed, the plane that took most of the awards at the KR Gathering this
year is a drop dead gorgeous nosewheel equipped KR.

The ground handling of the KRs with the wide stance of the Diehl gear is very
benign. My particular KR can be challenging because of the very low canopy I
chose to use that makes forward visibility non-existent once the tail is down.
Otherwise, it's a real pussycat. I think others on this list will likely agree
that if you are comfortable with landing a Champ, you have all the skills you
need to be comfortable landing a KR.

I did find that the crosswind capability of this aircraft was significantly
improved when I extended the cord of the rudder. I probably should note that
my home airport is a high altitude one way airport with strong gusty crosswinds
and rotors that swirl up over the mesa where the airport is located.
Consequently, I am often times either taking off or landing with gusty rear
quartering crosswinds.

Jeff Scott has considerable tail wheel time in a number of different aircraft.
Maybe he could jump in here and rate his KR against the other models
he has flown.
