he spilled some oil and grease on the table and the right side of my project 
was still on the table

I would be tempted to duplicate the problem for a test piece that I would then 
clean and laminate another piece to it.  Put one half in vise and break the 
other half off. Verifyng it doesn't break in the glue joint.  (Just like 
testing your laminated spar caps)

Just a thought.
