My aluminum tanks are sitting on two 1" x 1" pieces of aluminum angle that
is bolted between the front and rear spars. I placed some 1/8" rubber
stripping on the aluminum angle to prevent any possible rubbing or friction
between the tanks and the aluminum angle. Once the tanks were seated, I
poured two part liquid foam between the tanks and the spars and allowed that
area to completely fill. This holds the tanks firmly in place yet allows for
any flex in the wing. On the top and bottom of the tanks, I epoxied
polyurethane foam in place and then proceeded to shape the airfoil once all
the foam was placed in the wing. By doing this you have totally encased the
tank in the wing with foam. These tanks now have 250 flight hours with
absolutely no leaks or problems.
