I am going to remove my header tank, at some point before the new engine goes on, assuming that will happen. For a fuel supply, I am going to build tanks, like Mark Jones', in my outboard wings. It should be a relatively easy job to install the tanks in the wings, since they can be removed, taken home, then re-installed when finished, quite easily. I think the hard part is going to be plumbing it, and I have not been able to plan that out, so far. I want to keep the fuel out of the cockpit, so I want it to pull from both tanks and somehow, stop pumping then one of the tanks is empty. But not being an engineer, I am somewhat challenged in this department. However, it will happen, one day after the Gathering this year.

I know that most people need to make a bathroom stop before the fuel runs out but just for arguments sake. If you were doing a long cross country and did not want to come down from 10.5 couldn't you add an aux. tank in the passenger seat or even build external wing tanks attached to the wing attach fittings like the Long Easy pod tanks ? I once saw a Europa with a red 5 gallon plastic boat tank behind the pilots seat. If the plane is already built this seems like a quick fix for the fuel issue.
