I think the Icom handheld Aviator Pilot series radios are nice. You can get a wired Headphone and Antenna adapter to use in your A/C as you get your normal radio repaired. My Icom amateur radio has terrific audio quality. What is your normal radio model? I am an FCC GROL (with RADAR endorsement) licensed radio repairman, and can do work on the radios in experimentals. I have worked on and taught AvCom and Nav systems in the military and have an AS in Avionics System Technology. I am currently getting my application for the FAA avionics maintenance man license in order so I will be certified to work on Certificated Aircraft in future jobs.
