I would HIGHLY recommend the following: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/jrctrans.php I've used one for years hooked to aircraft power and an external antenna. Outside the aircraft you can't tell it's not a panel mounted unit. All the features you'll need. Why pay more? The only thing I see they don't offer any more is the adapter to replace the battery pack when plugged to external power. Nice feature. Makes for a radio half the size of battery operated unit.
