WD-40 is more of a solvent base cleaner/release agent, than a lubricant. I'd 
go with LPS 2  our 'Northern' Airforce uses all the different LPS numbers 
like LPS-3

Like I said - It seemed like a good idea at the time, I'm still not sure 
that I did actually lube the verneir but there seemed to be a lot of 
evidence of it.
