Larry left out the part about it taking me an hour to weld that 2" of bead
on his rudder pedal...the material was so thin I had a couple of holes I had
to fill back in before it was over with. The end result was pretty hideous,
but apparently it got him home OK.

That experience gave me a chance to closely see the details of his plane,
and I have to say that his plane displays some of the finest workmanship
I've ever seen on a homebuilt. A look behind the panel would make you think
you were looking at a factory airplane, and the details of the fiberglass
fit and finish are amazing. No wonder he won Best KR at the Gathering...it
was well deserved!

I'm taking tomorrow off to try to get then engine back on the airframe and
the wings back on. Joe Horton is flying in from Florida early to help get
the wings on, so we might just be able to pull this off. The goal is to fly
in to Corvair College #19 in Barnwell, SC Saturday morning. We'll see how
it goes...
