Hey Mark I have always been a VW man myself, I have 10 VW's all type one, I
build for sand rail's, Baja's and 1/2 VW and full VW for aircraft I like how
you
had your type four I am working on a drive system for flywheel side as I start
my KR-1 this spring I know doing it backward. I always start on engine first
then build plane around engine LOL . Like to run prop off of flywheel side and
pully side for one wire altenater.

See http://www.n56ml.com/kvw.html for some details on the Type 4 engine,
assuming that's what it is.

To answer your question, yes it's been used on KRs before.
