Today in Stevens Point, WI the weather was delightful. Beautiful clear blue
skies, wind calm and the temp was 19°F. I just could not wait any longer since
my last flight was Oct 29, 2010. I hooked up the preheater while I checked over
the plane, removed the wheel pants to check tire air pressure an do a few other
checks. After an hour of preheating the engine, I rolled her out in the sun. It
sure did look nice to see the sun bathing her. Anyway, a preflight, a turn of
the ignition and 4 blades I stopped. Primed her again, turn of the ignition and
three blades later she came to life as if it were the middle of the summer ( I
wish). A nice long warm up and a taxi to runway 21 proved all systems go.
Called out my departure and firewalled the throttle. I rotated at 70 and lifted
up into the vast blue skies. Climbed on out to 4500' and settled into a nice
winters flight. After about thirty minutes my toes were beginning to beg me to
return to Earth where they could warm up. You see I have no heat in my cockpit.
I fought the urge and continued on to put 1.1 flight hours on her today. Back
in the pattern to land and almost greased her in. Just a little right drift
gave the KR a mini jolt when the tires gripped the pavement. She is all nestled
back in the hanger now waiting on my return for yet another wonderful time in
the air with my KR.

Oh yea, just 242 days till the nice warm KR Gathering.
Pete Brautigam, get the lead out, fly your KR and be ready to fly it to the
Gathering. You have no excuse
