KR> New to the list

Hi, I'm Bob and am new to the group. I am looking at purchasing a KR2S
project from a friend who is getting out. At 85 he decided to just
enjoy the rest of life going up for rides.
He is in the boat stage and my question is this, the width of his
fuselage is approximately 36inches between the upper longerons at the
widest point. Is there any way to split the boat and widen it to about
42 inches? My fear is weakening the whole thing.
