Pat. I don't see any reason why you cannot use both. Certainly, don't mix them, but many of these aircraft have been built with different resins over the years. I think staying with epoxy, except where something like VinylEster is called for, is definitely better.
I learned to use AeroPoxy from Mark, many years ago and have been using it ever since, because of the reasons he cited. If it gets old, I don't hesitate to use it on something that is not structural like a wing, or, I guess, anything but a wing. I have never noticed it curing out any differently, no matter how old it is, but also never put it to a breakage test either.
