Bob,

I would respond with a couple of reasons why I would not do this. First, in the
interest of weight, I would watch every little place you might add weight. Some
of us have ended up with some pretty hefty KR's and I am one of them. It will
start to add up like a domino effect towards the end.

Also, it is an unproven plan as far as I know or at least in a KR. Yes, its
experiemtal and you can do what you want.

Last, I also enjoy the hobby of restoring and building cars, sports cars and in
my sons recent SCCA race car we have delt a lot with bonding of dissimular
materials. Specifically, metal and fiberglass. I am by no means an expert and I
have had success and sometimes cosmetic issues when bonding two different
surfaces like metal and fiberglass that have different reactions to heat, cold
and stress. At the very least you will probably fight spider line cracking. I
really think you will have issues with the differences differences in how
aluminum will react to heat and cold if you make your turtle deck out of
aluminum and bond it to a wood and fiberglass boat.

But, I know there are a lot of guys on here that know a lot more about this
subject then me that are on this forum.

Subject: KR> Horses and KR'S

Have you ever heard the saying nice guys get screwed? Well back in February
2012 I purchased my partially completed KR-2S project from a friend in my
EAA chapter with a big dream of jumping in and getting er done. Well now
for the nice guy part. Being my passion is building and flying and my
wife's passion is horses, I got the bright idea to be a nice guy and in
April bought my wife two horses. DON'T GO THERE!!! I didn't stop to think
about who was going to spend every evening and every weekend digging fence
post holes and building a barn. Not bad if you have helpers which I did
not. I just finished fencing enough property for the big boys and the barn.
I am now ready to get back into the building.
I have a question for you experts, I was thinking of making metal bulk
heads and covering with metal for the rear deck instead of foam and glass.
Any thoughts on weight, strength or pros cons?
Sincerely
Just horsin around with a KR2
