I enquired about my Sterba prop and Ed came back with the following info. This is for all Sterba prop owners and wood props in general. Non Steba owners check with your manufacturer.

Ed,,

I have one of your props on my 0-200 powered KR2. It is 15 ? years =
old and has 600 flight hours accumulated and is in need of a bit of TLC.
What should I use to refinish the prop, very light sanding and =
re-coat, with what? You coated the back side with black =
paint. Special paint or rattle can, flat black?
Any advise appreciated.
Thanks........

=======================================

You can use MinWax brand Helmsman series Gloss varnish available at Ace, Tru=
e Value, etc and a 2" gray foam brush with the wood handle to apply the fini=
sh. The Gloss has the UV inhibitors. A new prop comes with 5 coats of fini=
sh so use as many coats as is necessary. The black paint can be hardware st=
ore flat or semigloss black. Glad it's still going for you, I get them back=
 once and a while with 25 years or more of service.
Ed
