I did end up running one through my planer. Results were not bad but it did remove a few of the little cross members. They can be put back but I was thinking planer to a certain level then thickness sander. I don't mind getting some new plywood to recover them. If you are willing to purchase a small amount of plywood you could run the spars through a planing machine and plane the plywood shear webs off of one side of the main carry thru down to the spar caps. Once it's inspected to see if the spreaders are there, then put the new plywood on that side. It seems to me that you will rip some of the spar cap material out trying to pry the plywood shear Webb off. Planing would just remove the plywood leaving a smooth surface to apply the plywood.
