After cleaning up my hangar yesterday,I spent some time going a bit deeper into the darker of the two projects. John Shaffer had some comments when he saw it about the plywood used as some of it was delaminating. Turns out the web on the spars is too thin and I suspect is just some type of mahogany playwood. The builder also seems to have used wood screws and also left nails in the plywood that poke through the spruce formers. I am pretty much writing this one off and will salvage as much sitka as I can. It was largely for parts anyway and came with the Diehl skins, as well as all instrumentation and cowling, turtledeck, Also some hardware that can be salvaged. Once I sort through, I will have a lot of parts available to purchase. If anyone needs items please keep in touch with me through my personal email. It was still great to spend a total airplane weekend even though it was around -20 Celsius.
