Some quick research indicates it would be "half"
as expensive, not twice. Two male rod
end bearings would be $20, $10 a foot for
tubing. Two female rod end bearings $8.80, 6"
long 1/4X28 bolt $5.35. We'll discount the lock nuts.
If you need longer push rods I'd even consider a
good quality threaded rod and shrink wrap the
exposed area between the locknuts. I'm not
talking hardware store rod but something of good
quality. Although , with the forces no heavier
than we're look at on our ailerons, I'm guessing
hardware store threaded rod would work.
Another option, better than threaded rod, would
be to use rod like is used to align the elevator
hinges, cut to length, and thread both
ends. That's an option for anything longer than the longest bolt available.
