"Master clinder"? Connected to each pedal, normally. Some brake
cylinders incorporate a reservoir the top of the cylinder. In this
case, there is no need for a separate reservoir, but they can be a pain
to top off without it. I would think that most planes that do need a
separate or remote reservoir would simply use one reservoir that feeds
both master cylinders. N891JF has an aluminum reservoir mounted on the
engine side of the firewall, with a Nylaflow tube running inside,
splitting in two, and feeding both master cylinders. Since the tube is
somewhat clear, a quick look under the cowling tells you if there's
fluid in the line, and a port in top allows you to measure and top off
if needed.
