That was the claim made when the Diehl fixed gear became available and
applied to the KR2 setup. The operative word in the statement " A well
sealed retractable is
always better than fixed - hence, all performance gliders are retractable" is "well
sealed". That hardly applies to the KR. The main reason that many "fast" aircraft like
the RV's, Cirrus, Cessna, are fixed is because the penalty payed to go retractable, extra weight and
complexity, is not worth any slight gain in speed.
I repeat, go with what you're comfortable with and enjoy the ride............'
